Aussielian at last! My Citizenship was approved!
July 1st 2009 04:49
I am immensely happy to tell you that my Australian Citizenship was approved!!
I just have to wait for the ceremony to make the pledge now...
I’m an official Aussielian (Aussie Brazilian)!
I arrived in Sydney in September 2003 and on the second day I knew this was the place I wanted to live at. I felt the feeling of “I have arrived. I’m home”. Since then I have left here a few times and upon each return it all comes back: the tears in my eyes, the certainty that this is my place, my life and it burns inside me a deep love for it.
I will always carry my Brazilian roots proudly, my rhythm, my smile, my dance and outgoing ways, will display the best of my mother’s culture. I will want to visit and go back a few times too. But I have been born an alien there to find myself here.
As I will pledge shortly, my soul goes to Australia and its people, its multiculturalism with tolerance and organization. And to all the dreams I have realised and the ones that are coming now...
Beijos to all Australians and Aussielians!

or should I go all Aussie and say, G'Day Tarnie... tee hee!
I was wondering, whether the combination of the country names should be more like... Aussibraz..
or maybe Aussiebrazzie?
Then again, maybe, Brazussie? Or just Braussie?
No, I am not serious, but good on you for having the courage to join our fair land, at the bottom of the world, but a word of warning, not all Aussies are full of sunshine and acceptance, like any and every country on Earth, we have our fair share of crazies, bigots and morons.
Anyway, there are enough open minded people here to make you feel at home.
Cheers and congrats on becoming an Aussie... you must do a post about the ceremony when it happens!

PS. As fog says above, it'd be great if you could post some ceremony pics.
And did you see CSS hosting Rage a month or so ago? Love that song and clip - "Move."

Braussie is funny! I know there are people everywhere that are “crazies, bigots and morons” but I prefer to ignore them. It is a funny law of the universe that people that believe in something end up getting it. And I believe in sunshine, fuzzy colours (like in Hazius picture), luuuv, tacky flowers and chocolate. I know I sound terribly naive but I will cheer to that too. I’m not big in watching news and reading newspapers, don’t believe most of what I read and see, that the present and future is bleak and full of crisis. I don’t even believe Angie and Brad Pitt fight that much!!! I like the blogs because they are overall news with humanity. Bloggers are about what is interesting in life.
That is why I’m so happy with the Citizenship. It took me five and a half years of hard work and perseverance to get it. I had my share of crisis and bleak moments. But what I kept doing was: believing my dreams could transform my reality, and so they are doing it, over and over... and part of that was to be here: Home.
As I am every time I fly back, my eyes are moist and the emotion runs high...
