Perfection

The sunken ellipses sketched
Swollen stomach in the mirror
Pound against pound
Stone matching stone
A lump of a mammal specimen
Hips so wide
Skin so stretched in the mirror
Coming lose from the bone
Thigh weighing down the torso
No mention to the muscle
Or vacant eyes of delirium in the mirror
Searching, searching for the faults
Blind to the past beauty
Blind to the self-obtained ugly future
Eyes open to an unreachable perfection
Swollen stomach in the mirror
Pound against pound
Stone matching stone
A lump of a mammal specimen
Hips so wide
Skin so stretched in the mirror
Coming lose from the bone
Thigh weighing down the torso
No mention to the muscle
Or vacant eyes of delirium in the mirror
Searching, searching for the faults
Blind to the past beauty
Blind to the self-obtained ugly future
Eyes open to an unreachable perfection

You have captured the torture that we put ourselves through when we look in the mirror so well. Your descriptions are apt, I especially like this bit:
Blind to the past beauty
Blind to the self-obtained ugly future
Eyes open to an unreachable perfection
So true,
Tracy
