Is it that I love you?
Or have I just begun to love me.
Do I know you?
Or have I just made you up.
Do I want you?
Or do I just want to settle down.
Do we understand each other?
Or do we just speed read the confusing bits.
Do we communicate?
Or have we just not touched a nerve.

Is it that I'm thinner?
Or have I just accepted my body.
Am I prettier?
Or have I just dealt with my ugliness.
Am I more likeable?
Or have I just become more friendly.

Is it that I am a pagan?
Or has my idea of God just changed.
Have I lowered my expectations of myself?
Or have I relinquished my self-criticism.
Am I more innocent because I no longer feel guilty?
Or have I just realised that guilt achieves nothing.
Have I stopped moving forward?
Or just accepted my life as a beautiful frustration.
